Sometimes you have a shot in mind, however you never seem to be able to make it happen, then one day, suddenly with little warning, there it is! Timing is everything, thinking ahead as to what would be the best time to get a certain shot, making sure you get there for that time, and carry your camera with you when possible, because often those shots are there for a brief moment. You don;t have long enough to go home and get your gear. The number of times I have been out and s
Tired of having to go somewhere to get shots? Well look no further than your own garden. Was a beautiful afternoon so thought I would sit still with the camera and see what would happen. Fair bit of bird activity, Golden Crowned Sparrows, American Goldfinches, White Crowned Sparrows, Spotted Towhees, Yellow Rumped Warblers, Robins, Rufous Hummingbirds, Flicker, Song Sparrows, Snowbirds and a Rescue Helicopter! Not bad for sitting in a chair! Spring blossoms were out, as were
Almost the end of the Snowbirds spring training, had to get a few more shots on a beautiful sunny morning, well a lot more actually! Anyway here are some from today's selection, don't worry only a few more days and that's it for another year! These pilots never cease to amaze me with their skills. I could watch them day after day after day. However they will be leaving Comox soon, but they are definite sign of spring! Unfortunately this year the weather has not cooperated ver
I must say, seeing these striking wild flowers in the spring is always a highlight for me. The areas they grow profusely look like fairy groves, and the bright yellow is so striking. I actually could smell them yesterday, however I wouldn't call that a skunk smell, it was a sweet smell and not strong. Was nothing else flowering, so it had to be them. Anyway, here are a few more from my shots yesterday. Still not at their peak, close, but another few days should do it, but don
Couldn't resist heading down to a favourite spot yesterday to see what the morning brought for a view. To my surprise, the boats that usually are anchored there were gone! They were live aboards that have been there what seems forever, still with them being gone, it provided for a perfect reflection, well almost, in the bay. There is something about this spot that just keeps me coming for more!! Now this image would make a wonderful office panorama 4 feet wide, showcasing the
Just like the spring flowers, the Snowbirds are back! Look forward to this time of the year when the birds are back in Comox for a month to practice everyday. We get to watch an hour and a half practice twice a day everyday! Best air show ever!! They allow us on to the base to watch from close to the runway. One of the awesome things about living in YQQ Have attached a few pics I took last year when they were here. These guys are truly amazing!
